Mortgage myth #1

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

"I can't get a mortgage because I had CCJ/IVA/Missed Payments/Defaults/Bankrupcy on my credit report and it takes 6 years for them to be removed."

Yes it does take 6 years for these to not appear on your Credit Report anymore but so what!? Many lenders don't worry about poor credit history after 3 years, and some ignore them after 12 months!

Some lenders start their countdown from the date the default occured other's from the date that it was settled.

Other lenders consider the type of default and the amount that the default was for.

The best thing to do is get a copy of your Experien, Equifax, MyCallCredit Credit Reports and give a summary of your credit performance to your Mortgage Broker and let them earn their fee by finding a lender that will lend to you.
